Biography
Dr. Nelson was born and raised in New Baltimore, Mich. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan in 2016. She then attended Indiana University School of Optometry, where she graduated with honors in 2020.
Following her time in optometry school, Dr. Nelson completed a one-year post graduate residency in pediatric optometry, with an emphasis in vision therapy and vision rehabilitation, at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. During her residency, she developed a passion for working with students and helping patients achieve better binocular vision.
After her residency, Dr. Nelson worked in private practice in North Carolina caring for both pediatric and adult patients. During this time, she had a special focus on double vision, traumatic brain injury and special needs populations.
Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Michigan Optometric Association and the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association.
When she is not in clinic, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and creative writing.
