Biography
Dr. Elaine Webber has been teaching full time at the University since 2012. She particularly enjoys teaching a community engaged learning course, which introduces students to engaging with individuals in the communities surrounding the McNichols Campus.In addition to teaching, Dr. Webber maintains a clinical practice in pediatric primary care as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with a specialty focus in breastfeeding support. As an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), she established a breastfeeding clinic in a community hospital and later another breastfeeding clinic within the affiliated pediatric office.Webber has served on a variety of professional boards in leadership positions including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners – Michigan Chapter (NAPNAP-MI), Michigan Association of Lactation Consultants (MALC), Regional Pediatric Nurse Leaders and Lactation Education Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (LEAARC). LEAARC is an international organization and a leader in establishing standards for professional lactation practice and guidance in formal lactation education programs.-

 Areas of Research Webber's primary research focuses on lactation education of future healthcare providers. She has numerous publications on the topic including: - Using simulation to teach breastfeeding skills

- Surveys of Family Nurse Practitioner, Midwifery and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs in the United States for lactation content
